Walking – from your doorstep you can enjoy beautiful and spectacular walks. Ranging from a 1 mile stroll to the nearby waterfall, a 4 mile loop to Tal-y-Llyn Lake, through to a full blown 3,000 feet climb to the summit of Cader Idris. See www.walkingbritain.co.uk for routes.

Mountain biking – from your doorstep you can enjoy gentle rides down the quiet valley lanes or for the more energetic head straight up the mountain tracks towards Cader Idris!

Castell y Bere (www.snowdoniaguide.com/castell_y_bere.html) is an ancient castle less than a mile from Tyn-y-Fach. It’s open all year round and has no admission charge.

Talyllyn Steam Railway (www.talyllyn.co.uk) station is only 3 miles away and was the first preserved steam railway in the world. From the station in Abergynolwyn you can enjoy a ride through beautiful countryside all the way to Tywyn.

King Arthur’s Labyrinth (www.kingarthurslabyrinth.co.uk) is 10 miles away at Corris. As well as the mine tours there are is also a craft centre and cafe.

St Michael’s Church is only half a mile away and houses an exhibition about Mary Jones, the local girl who in the year 1800, at the age of 16 walked barefoot from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant to Bala, (some 26 miles) to procure a copy of the Welsh Bible.

Tywyn is 8 miles away and as well as the beach provides shops (including two supermarkets), restaurants, cafes, a public swimming pool, and a cinema.

Barmouth is best accessed via a 15 mile drive to Morfa Mawddach where you can go one stop on the train or walk across the footbridge. As well as a beautiful beach Barmouth provides a fun-fair, shops, restaurants, cafes, and pubs.
